Ritz-Carlton, Central Park New York, NY |
The Ritz-Carlton Central Park is a five-star, 277-key hotel, including 11 luxury apartments overlooking Central Park. Originally built in 1929 and fronting directly onto the southern edge of Central Park, the Ritz-Carlton Central Park, then known as the St. Moritz Hotel, had long been one of New York’s best-known hotels. Handel Architects led the renovation and modernization of the building, stripping all existing systems exclusive of the steel structure while maintaining the exterior skin and detail. |
Work also included replacing the existing terra-cotta details and re-building of the upper level exterior structure. Incremental additions to the south side enlarged the floor plate and enhanced condominium layouts. A new central atrium became the focus of the entry lobby. Other renovated amenities include a restaurant, spa, and meeting rooms. |
