Scheduled to open in 2013, the Miami Art Museum (MAM) will be an estimated 125,000 square feet located in the newly designed Museum Park (formerly Bicentennial Park). Along with the Miami Museum of Science, which is also relocating to the Park, the new MAM is a central element of the City of Miami's master plan for the transformation of the Park and the revitalization of Miami's downtown area.

The new museum facility will double the current amount of gallery space and include interior and covered outdoor event space, an auditorium, a museum store, an education area, and a cafe. The project has an anticipated construction budget of $83 million.

The facility will be on the north side of Museum Park, overlooking Biscayne Bay, and will include 32,000 square feet of galleries to display the permanent collection and special exhibitions, as well as an outdoor sculpture garden, which will be free and open to the public.
